No strings attached conversations with people we admire, whose work we love and who leave us proud by wearing Wolf & Rita.
We spoke with Célia Esteves, founder of GUR rugs, about working and living in Porto with her boyfriend and their two years old son Roque.
Please tell us a little more about you.
I live in Porto, but I was born in Viana do Castelo, a city further north, which is very rich in traditional ethnography and I believe that influence during my childhood is partly responsible for what I do today professionally. And we love going back there on the weekend and on holidays because it is also very close to nature.
What kind of activities do you enjoy doing together, as a family?
Going to the beach with the dogs, doing some skate boarding with the boys and having some ice cream on the way.
What do you most appreciate about being a parent?
Hugs and kisses from my son. :-)
Which lessons do you find most important to teach your children?
To be happy, loving and honest with him and others.
What would you recommend for a family day when visiting Porto? Favourite local spots?
Going for a walk or to the playground at Palácio de Cristal, pizza at Casa D’oro and then the skate park in Ramalde for the afternoon.
How do you get inspired to express your own style? Does it apply to your kids as well?
I get inspired by the many talented creatives I work with, and other friends projects. I love mixing patterns with plain colour blocks.
It applies to my kid as far as he lets me :-) I love getting him dressed!
How did you get acquainted with Wolf&Rita?
I found them online and was attracted by their joyful clothing for kids. I was happy to find out that the 18 years old size is big enough for adults too.
Please tell us something you find interesting about Wolf&Rita.
Their connection to Portugal's textile quality and sustainability and the collaboration with local creatives for their graphics.
What is important for you when choosing clothes for your children?
Good quality first, because of Roque' sensitive skin, and then bright colours and patterns that can reflect his playful nature and never ending energy.
